Our Story

In the Fall of 1991 a small group of passionate people came together around the idea of helping homeowners in need across the Chicago area with no-cost home repairs. They wanted to help ease the burden that costly but essential repairs can have on families with fewer resources. Put simply, they wanted to ensure that homeowners in need could remain in their homes safely regardless of their income.  In the spring of 1992, that small team hosted the first National Rebuilding Day in Chicago and completed repairs on 8 houses. From those humble beginnings, over the last 30+ years thousands of volunteers have come alongside over 2,000 homeowners to provide essential repairs, accessibility modifications, and more so they can live in their homes and communities safely. Thirty-plus years later our passion for safe homes and communities for everyone continues and we want to celebrate!

Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate 30+ years of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives.
